Colour Identity

Post22 Oct 2015 17:49

Hi folks, I'm a new member, so first of all hello to fellow enthusiasts!

I wondered if any of you clever people can help me identify the colour of my A40 - is there a colour ID plate somewhere on the car I can't find?

Regards

No paint code on car.
Post a pic of your car here and we will be able to identify if factory colour.

From your pic I would guess Agate red .your boot lid sees to be too light for Maroon.Did you take your photo in daylight or artificial light?.
colurs are difficult to reproduce on pc monitor ,on my colour chart Maroon is almost black.

Yes its difficult. This was in natural light. The pics I see online quoted as Agate look a bit too light but it could just be the RGB representation. That Maroon looks very dark.

It had a black roof, was that only used with certain main colours?

Black roof was standard ,monotone was special order.
Agate red does look lighter so depending on year one of two maroons
pre 64 Embassy maroon paint code RD21

Extract from the later Mk2 colour chart--------

"The second colour in duotone applies to the roof panel in each case. There is no extra charge for Duotone, which will be supplied unless monotone colour is specified at the time of ordering"
