Welcome to the forums, Oli, and I hope you find much to entertain you. Do hunt round and download the Club's free Silver Jubilee booklet which holds considerable info on the cars and their development. Any questions - just ask!

HI

I am rourke from South Africa.

I know of a a40 1962 model and am looking to buy it.

It is standing for a long time under a roof and I knew the old man who owned it. He told me the engine was redone head and all, but just after that the diff broke. I believe this car to be very rare in SA as I have only seen 2 thus far.

I had a look at it and it looks solid except for bonnet showing rust and bootlid and hinges. I still need to inspect the car properly underneath.

Obviously I am here for advice and learning.

I got the reg papers but have been eaten by time and only a few things are present on it ,like t being a 1962 model. Thus means a full re-intro to the traffic authorities.

If there are people on here from SA which I doubt, let me know.

Regards
Rourke

Welcome to all new online users.

You must be a full member of the club to access spares but moist things can be sourced.

Derek Minter is the man to contact once you have a membership number.

My first reply seems to be floating around in cyberspace so -----
A replacement diff can be sourced from the later Morris Minor

If the A40 you are interested in has a 948cc engine you require a 4.55 to 1 ratio diff
for a 1098cc engine you require a 4.22 to 1

You can fit a 4.22 to a 948
4.55 to a 1098 engine while it will fit is not reccomended
