Chassis plate ID

Post21 Jul 2018 10:27

Can anyone help. My MK2 countryman came with a chassis plate removed, and in with a box of bits. It is A-AW9 - 84363. Also says, Austin longbridge england. Hoping its not a plate for an a30 or a35.Can anyone confirm if this is correct for a mk2 countryman, red with white roof. Cars been deregistered here in New Zealand and it cant be found in our land transport system.

Thanks, so all is not lost. Ive been told if the local vintage car club can vouch for the validity of the car, then they will put it back on the road.:-)

The British Motor Museum can give you (at a cost) details of your car from factory records---

Looking through the membership listing, that chassis number seems to be from about April, May, June '63.
